In Michigan City, Indiana, the Lubeznik Center for the Arts will host Patty and Bruce for a book discussion and reception at their monthly First Friday series.

On Friday, July 5, 2013, photographer Patty Carroll’s work will bring to life the anecdotes of noted culinary historian, Dr. Bruce Kraig, of American hot dog stands, their lively proprietors, patrons and iconic products. Kraig will narrate the links between hot dogs and immigration, baseball, entrepreneurship, the growth of America’s urban centers and regional culinary preferences.

Samplings from local hot dog stands will be available for tasting and a DJ in the garden will entertain later in the evening.

The public is invited to the July 5 book discussion and reception from 5 to 8 PM CST, and admission is free to attend. Cash bar will be provided and light refreshments available for purchase. Signed copies of Man Bites Dog will be available for purchase at a discounted price.
